Following the closures of schools in Wisconsin, YWCA Rock County is suspending all child care programming

Categories: News Releases

Janesville, Wisconsin – All YWCA Rock County child care services will be suspended following the closure of schools in Wisconsin.

Late Friday (3/13) afternoon, Governor Tony Evers ordered schools in the state to close until at least April 6, to help mitigate the spread of the coronavirus. As part of our child care program, YWCA Rock County works closely with the Janesville and Milton school districts.

YWCA Rock County offers a 4-year-old kindergarten program (P4J), as well as before and after school care at sites throughout the Janesville and Milton school districts.

“The closures of the schools mean we lose access to 10 of our before and after school program sites,” said Angela Moore, YWCA Rock County Executive Director. “This is an uneasy time for the families we serve and for our staff. The safety of the children in our programs and our staff is our highest priority.”

We will continue to monitor recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, state and local health officials and from the Governor’s office as we evaluate how to proceed.
