Know the Signs of Child Abuse and Neglect

Categories: Helpful Resources

April is child abuse awareness month. With many Wisconsinites staying home with the ‘safer at home’ order, children are having fewer interactions with people. It is more important now than ever before that we all know the signs of child abuse and neglect.

It’s also important to know how to report any suspected abuse to authorities and your local child welfare agencies.

No community is immune to this issue. In 2019, YWCA CARE House conducted more than 180 forensic interviews with abused children.

The flyer below, from the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, includes warning signs of neglect, physical abuse, sexual abuse and emotional abuse.
