Janesville, Wisconsin – SHINE Medical Technologies is the recipient of the sixth annual YWCA Rock County Dorothy Height Diversity in the Workplace Award. As part of receiving the award, SHINE’s efforts will be recognized at the upcoming YWCA Rock County Racial Justice Conference.
The Dorothy Height Diversity in the Workplace Award is presented to businesses and organizations in Rock County which show cultural diversity achievements, as well as a sustained commitment to racial justice in its policies and practices. A community-led committee selects the recipient each year.

“Through its commitment to diversity and inclusion, SHINE continues to put in work to create a more inclusive environment for all of its employees,” said Angela Moore, YWCA Rock County Executive Director. “Among its efforts, SHINE has implemented a blind screening process for potential new hires, implemented diversity-focused recruiting and the company encourages its employees to participate in local and national events to broaden employees’ knowledge and understanding.”
The CEO of SHINE Medical Technologies, Greg Piefer, said the company will continue to put in the work when it comes to creating a truly inclusive environment.
“SHINE is honored to receive this award, particularly because it is named for Dorothy Height, one of the most influential women in the civil rights movement,” said Greg Piefer, CEO of SHINE. “SHINE has made a strong commitment to diversity and inclusion. We believe that our commitment is important for our company, our community, and, ultimately, the world overall. While we are taking steps to create a more diverse and inclusive workplace, we know we can and must do better on these important workplace issues. All of us at SHINE are grateful to the YWCA for this award and take inspiration from Ms. Height’s life and work.”
SHINE Medical Technologies will be honored during the sixth annual YWCA Rock County Racial Justice Conference on November 12, 2020. This year, due to COVID-19, the Racial Justice Conference is virtual. Registration information for the conference can be found on ywcarockcounty.org.
