YWCA Rock County Seeking Artists to Participate in the 100-Year Anniversary “Artful Empowerment” Event

Janesville, WI - YWCA Rock County has been working towards eliminating racism and empowering women since 1922 and will celebrate the organization’s 100-year anniversary in 2022. As a part of the year long celebrations, YWCA Rock County is looking for local artists to create a work of art on an 8” X 10” cotton canvas panel. Participants will use any media (supplies) they would like. The one requirement is that artists use the theme of Empowerment as their inspiration. YWCA Rock County will supply the canvas and the participant will supply the media (ink, paint, fabric, plaster, etc.). Once the artwork is complete, it becomes property of YWCA Rock County and will be used in an art raffle to help raise money for the 100-year anniversary celebration. Fifty canvases will be dispersed throughout local schools and fifty canvases will be available to the public for participation at a first come first served basis. Timeline:• November 15th: Canvas pick up at Raven’s Wish (101 W. Milwaukee St. Janesville). Milwaukee St. Janesville).• January 28th - February 23rd: Art exhibit at Raven’s Wish (viewing available during business hours).• February 24th: Art raffle through random number draw ($100 each).Publicity:• Artwork will be available for in-person viewing at Raven’s Wish and featured on all of YWCA Rock County’s Social Media Pages, website and e-newsletter.Sales:• Artwork will be sold for $100 each through a random number draw raffle (tickets will be available for sale throughout exhibit).
