Maria Elena White
María Elena White is the Executive Director of the non-profit organization La Voz de Beloit, where she advocates for the Latino community in Rock County. With over 20 years of experience, she's worked tirelessly to serve and empower others as a public servant, bridging the gap in access to services available to Spanish-speaking communities of Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. Her previous roles include coordinating the Spanish English-Plus Child Tutoring Program at Stateline Literacy Council and serving as Bilingual Outreach Coordinator at Hedberg Public Library. Currently, she teaches Spanish, Translation, Latinx Literature, and Chicano Studies at UW-Whitewater as a Senior Lecturer.
Through La Voz de Beloit, María Elena provides vital resources and services to the community, mentors students, and promotes education and women’s empowerment. Her dedication has earned her recognition, including the Educator Award from Beloit Literacy for Life Initiative, the Diversity Award from UW-Whitewater, and the Women in Leadership Recognition. She's also featured in the "Somos Latinas History Project" digital collection.
